HAPPY NEW YEAR! In this issue:
"None
will improve your lot if YOU, yourself do not."
- Bertholt Brecht 1933
You'll see this is a short and sweet newsletter. Kathryn and Dot are taking a well-deserved break this month and will be back next month. Enjoy the read. Happy New Year to each of you! May 2006 have less clutter on every level and more space for what you want to have and attract in your life. Speaking of attracting new things into your life I hope you have not made any New Resolutions. I’d rather that you have sat back, looked at this past year, and made some choices for what you are wanting and what you are prepared to do to make that possible. Resolutions are just mental and emotional clutter based on “shoulds” or at least that’s been my experience as well as that of many of my clients. Change it up a bit this year and make it about purposeful choices. What do you want more or less of? Are you hanging onto any old stories of yourself or others? What’s been the impact? What have you been tolerating this past year? Is it important for you to continue to do so or are you ready to make a change? Who is important in your life and what time and effort have you made for those relationships? What time are you giving to yourself so that you can feel like you want and can give to others? Self-care is so very important. In what ways are you contributing to your community? Want to make any changes? These are some questions that may help you when reflecting over the past year and seeing what to keep and what to let go of as you move into 2006. Send me an email if you’d like to share your thoughts with me. I’d be most interested in hearing from you. - Linda
Isn't it time you put yourself first?
This past month was full of work, some down time, a bad cold and some family time. A nice blend for me. Well, I could have done without the cold although it did give me a day of rest when I wouldn’t have otherwise had one. Been working with two teams this past while and that has been very rewarding for all of us. Great energy, commitment and lovely human beings. More of my “ideal” clients. I took Friday afternoons off in December which was a nice treat, and David did as well. Made for a feeling of a nice long weekend. We had a quiet and lovely Christmas as planned. My mom made us some favorite cookies and we spent the afternoon and evening eating a scrumptious turkey dinner with our friend’s Rick & Brian. We were spoiled with great food, many chocolates and baked goodies that would have lasted a long time if only we could have paced ourselves! Willpower is limited when goodies are in this house that is for sure. David and I also spent two days with Brad, Tania and baby Cohen over the holiday time and that was heavenly! I just love spending time with all of them. Cohen is growing fast and furiously and is already nine months old and a going concern. Brad & Tania are such great parents, which is a joy to see. Cohen is one lucky kid. We’ve been talking about possibly spending next Christmas with them and Tania’s family. I think that would be great fun for all of us. January has started off with a nice flow of work and some time to get things done in my office. Doing more workshops and team development this month along with my regular coaching clients. I really do have the best work one could want and I thank my lucky starts for the choices I have made and the people with which I work. Cumberland Chronicles – well, we decorated our new house for Christmas and had space to enjoy all the decorations. One of our cats, Molly, was thoroughly enamored by the Christmas tree and every morning there was something different that had somehow ‘fallen” off the tree the night before. We’ve had some wonderful rain and windstorms lately and it is beautiful to sit in our cozy living room watching the trees sway and listening to the chimes as the wind howls. Now, here’s a wonderful story about the beauty of living in a small Village. Had a large nail stuck in one of my tires as I was heading back to my home office while on the Parkway. I “limped” to the closest automotive place in the Village. The guys were lovely; they removed the nail, plugged my tire and thought “five bucks oughta cover it” when asked what it would cost. Don’t you just love that? I do. Every day I fall in love again with living in this beautiful little Village. Come see for yourself and while you’re here we’ll do a retreat. Take good care. -Linda For
